Yojimbo 2 did fix my MobileMe sync issues
Quite a while ago now, my Yojimbo syncing via MobileMe packed up and went home (and did not leave a forwarding address).
This happened when my database size was somewhere north of 200 megabytes. I think it was around the 240 megabyte marker that it truly stopped even trying.
I wasn't bothering to address the matter because at that point my frustration with the lack of a Yojimbo app for iPhone was reaching new levels.
So I figured I'd move to evernote and eventually migrate off of Yojimbo. But I really don't like the way evernote does web archives (it's what you would call a vague approximation of a web page). Plus there's the issue of a lack of encryption for sensitive records.
And then came the recent discussion in this venue about the syncing issue and several people said "well why haven't you tried version 2." Well, see all the answers above -- I thought I was moving off of Yojimbo.
However, I am now thinking my path for the future will include a combination of Yojimbo and 1Password. YJ will be for stuff that I don't need on the run and 1P will be for those critical chunks of info that I do need when my laptop is not by my side.
With these things in mind, I installed YJ 2.1 on my primary desktop system running 10.5.8 and laptop with 10.6.2. And then I crossed my fingers, as I added YJ back to the MobileMe syncing checklist.
Lo and behold, my Yojimbo world was again unified. After stepping through a few syncing conflicts -- which are to be expected with the time that passed -- I have experienced no hiccups. Three or four days have since come and gone and each day has brought continued syncing joy.
So I will be purchasing the YJ2 license upgrade and thinking deeply about my needs for portable data.
