Using tags and smart folders - a question
Hi all,
One of the many ways I use Yojimbo in my daily workflow is to collect information for upcoming meetings. For example, I meet weekly with each of the managers who report to me. Let's say I have a manager named Bob. I currently would have a "Bob" collection and a "Bob - Next" collection. The latter is where I drop notes, files, and other items that form the agenda for the next one-on-one meeting (the former is the archive folder). But there are also items that I would like file in other collections that I also want to use for Bob's next meeting. This is where I'm stumped for the best approach.
I can file those items in the collection they are most associated with, add a "Bob" tag, and then create a smart folder for all "Bob" items. But now I have my "Bob" folder for archiving items related to Bob, the "Bob - Next" folder for things I'm dropping in for next meeting, and a new "Bob" smart folder showing things filed elsewhere but tagged for reference with Bob.
I can live with two folders for Bob, one for archive and one for upcoming meetings, but three? If I could also drop items into the smart folder, that would be ideal. I guess what I really need is one collection that allows me to see sorted tagged items as well as manually dropped items and created notes.
Anybody out there using Yojimbo in a similar way that's thought of a smarter way to go about this?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions,
- Kevin
