Interesting post on the demise of the visual file system
As a geek, I love the file system and the command line. But I use Yojimbo to store a lot of stuff I don't want to mess with in the file system. Same for iPhoto. Here's an interesting post on the subject that may be of interest to other Yojimbo users.
While I like finding/storing my stuff in Yojimbo, I do wish Yj actually stored my data in the file system ala Eagle Filer instead of a monolithic database. I think it's useful for users to provide a layer on top of the file system but I wish everyone wouldn't re-invent the file system. It complicates things like Time Machine and adds one more failure mode.
