10.6: Quitting Yojimbo before a SuperDuper backup
Some months back we had a discussion about the merits of quitting Yojimbo before SuperDuper performs a backup. At that time I posted the shell scripts I use (via SD's built-in feature to run them before and after the backup). When run under 10.6 these scripts return a notification that prevents SuperDuper from continuing with the backup. This has to do with architectures and Adobe libraries that the osascript command tries open. (No, I don't really know what I'm talking about—but I can point you to some additional reading if you really care.) Bottom line, after a little Google-ing, I've patched my scripts to run under Snow Leopard and I wanted to share them with you all.
#!/bin/sh arch -i386 osascript -e 'Tell application "Yojimbo" to quit'
#!/bin/sh arch -i386 osascript -e 'tell application "Yojimbo" to activate' -e 'tell application "System Events" to tell process "Yojimbo" to set visible to false'
(Note that there are no line breaks between "arch" and "false' " in this script)
